A Journey From Breakdown
to Breakthrough
Hey, My name is Kirk Barnes
For most of my life, I saw myself as a corporate guy.
I poured everything into that world—and I climbed the ladder.
I found success in big business, led major projects, built teams, and delivered results. That’s who I thought I was. That’s all I saw for myself.
Then, like so many others… I got laid off.
Just like that.
I went into free fall. I didn’t realize it then, but I was battling depression.
I had tied so much of my identity to my title, my performance, and the validation I got from others.
When that noise disappeared—I had to figure out
who I really was.
So I rebuilt. Slowly. Intentionally.
I realized I had been chasing someone else’s version of success. It was time to define my own.
And when I did, something amazing happened:
I leaned into what had really moved the needle for me—not the job titles, but the relationships, the vision, the storytelling, and the strategy.
I started networking differently—on purpose. That skill opened doors I didn’t even know existed.
I found myself speaking to rooms full of founders, faculty, funders, and global innovators.
Startups. Venture funds. Universities. Communities around the world.
The fog lifted. I could finally see the game differently.
So I built a system to help others do the same:
The LENS Method
Leadership. Entreprinnovation. Networking. Sales.
This isn’t about hustle for hustle’s sake.
It’s about Clarity. Confidence. Connection.
And when you apply it?
You unlock what I call
The LENS Effect:
Influence. Impact. Power. Income.
I let other people tell me who I was.
Now, I teach people how to define that
for themselves.
